Venue: MAKE Southwest

Suitable for: Adults

Join us for a one-day sculpture workshop focused on traditional classical techniques, where you'll learn to sculpt like Michelangelo himself!

At just 26 years old, Michelangelo created his masterpiece, David, which remains one of the most iconic sculptures in the world.

In this workshop, inspired by classical Renaissance training methods, you'll delve into the art of sculpting by copying plaster casts. These exercises will equip you with the skills, confidence, and understanding needed to sculpt with precision, mastering the art of observation, measurement, and construction.

Your task for the day? To recreate David's eye in clay, following the footsteps of the great master.

Using air-dry clay, you'll craft your replica, which you can proudly display at home, serving as a constant reminder of your journey into the world of sculpture.

Prepare for a day filled with enjoyment, hands-on learning, and the exploration of practical techniques used by figurative sculptors. Delve into a bit of anatomy and immerse yourself in an experience far removed from the confines of our digital screens.

This workshop welcomes all enthusiasts of sculpture, regardless of skill level.

Led by Luke Shepherd, a renowned portrait sculptor whose works grace museums, universities, and private collections worldwide. Luke is celebrated for his captivating portraits, including those of Floella Benjamin and Billy Connolly. With his expertise, he guides students from beginners to advanced levels, even extending his knowledge to plastic surgeons.

Experience a day in the life of Michelangelo and uncover the timeless artistry of classical sculpture.
